Week 4 saw victories from both Liverpool & Chelsea to stay at the top of the EPL table. Arsenal continued to pour in the goals and Tim Cahill celebrated his return to action with a winning goal against Stoke City.
#5 – Tim Cahill
Everton supporters were surprised that their club hardly made any moves in the transfer window this Summer – something they came to believe was the reason to their slow start this season. But David Moyes is a lot happier now that Tim Cahill is back in the line-up. The Aussie attacking midfielder struck a header in the 76th minute to give his team the win against Stoke City.
#4 – Ricardo Carvalho
The Chelsea centerhalf has performed the best in his position so far this season. The supporters at the Eastlands were becoming more and more hostile after Robinho’s goal and it could’ve turned ugly for Chelsea. But Carvalho’s goal three minutes later was enough to give the visiting side the confidence to pull it through. There were many key moments where it looked a sure goal for City, but they couldn’t get passed Carvalho & his ability to block the shot in the last second.
#3 – Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard continues to prove week after week why he is Chelsea’s heart in the midfield. The way he handled himself in the pitch, his passion & drive was unequal to any other in his position this weekend. A vital 53rd minute low-angle and accurate strike – flying smoothly passed a diving Joe Hart and into the bottom right-corner of the goal was a key moment in the game. And if he continues to play like this, Fabio Capello will have no reason to exclude him from the England XI.
#2 – Javier Mascherano
The Argentinian menace, also known as “Jefecito” (Little Chief) played a dominant role in the midfield for a Liverpool side that was missing the infulential Steven Gerrard. Mascherano was an annoying little bugger as usual towards the United players, challenging with a strong willingness to chase & win the ball at all costs. His determination paid off, chasing down Ryan Giggs inside the box and flicking the ball to a teammate, which led to Liverpool’s winning goal.
#1 – Emmanuel Adebayor
Arsenal has poured in seven goals in their last two games, winning both matches with ease. Arsenal will hope to keep their scoring streak going against Bolton next weekend. Adebayor hit three for a delightful hat-trick against Paul Ince’s faltering Blackburn side. The Tongo striker has looked strong for the Gunners and should continue to improve, along with his team’s record.

Hearts are currently in 5th place. One point behind 2nd place Celtic and four points behind 1st place Rangers. These results were expected, therefore not disappointing because of the various injuries suffered by Hearts key players. Andy Driver and the promising new signing, David Obua are both out with injuries.
But despite these setbacks, Hearts still showed the same resilience as they had been showing so far this season. With an uncertain defense (though full of potential with hot prospect, and captain, Christopher Berra) and an underachieving forward line, it is of little surprise that most of Hearts’ attacking options have fallen upon their ambitious and creative midfield.
There is a lack of depth in the striker position for Hearts, as players such as Michael Stewart (a central defensive midfielder) and Andy Driver (defensive winger) have become the main focus of Hearts’ attacking options.
Hearts need a something special up front. With their failure of signing a prolific striker before the transfer deadline, all eyes will be on Danish striker, Mike Tullberg – a player who has yet to prove himself because of injury.
Can Hearts split the Old Firm again? With the Old Firm’s relatively dismal start this year, anything is possible. But there are bright things that have come out this season so far. New Hearts manager, Csaba László and his players have so far rekindled the faith their supporters used to have for their club. And there’s a relatively strong belief that Hearts can do something truly historic this season.
