Meet Michael Mancienne

Chelsea face Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday & Luiz Felipe Scolari could turn to the Chelsea youngsters to make up for his depleted Blues side. Among the new casualties for the Blues are José Bosingwa, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry, Alex & Michael Ballack. If John Terry is not deemed fit tomorrow, then the Chelsea manager could turn to Branislav Ivanović, the Serbian centerhalf who made a great first impression on his debut against Aston Villa. 20 year-old, Michael Mancienne could also make his debut for the Blues.

Michael Mancienne, who was picked up by Chelsea when he was only 8 years-old has emerged as one of England’s top young prospects. However, the young centerhalf is yet to make a debut for his team. Mancienne spent the 07/08 campaign on-loan to Championship side, Queens Park Rangers and became a hit to QPR supporters. He is one of the gems of England’s U21 team and is highly-rated by U21 manager, Stuart Pearce.

His hard work could finally pay off this weekend, as he hopes to make his debut for Scolari’s Blues. Even if the 20-year-old does not start, he could still come off the bench to provide some aid for Chelsea’s back-four. Mancienne’s impressive displays have attracted a number of teams, including West Ham United, Portsmouth & Fulham.
