Rooney gives Celtic no chance

Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 victory against Celtic tonight at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils took advantage of the Scottish side’s limited attack. Dimitar Berbatov’s double should have been disallowed as both goals came from an offside position. But in the end, it didn’t matter as the on-fire, Rooney was inevitably going to put himself in the scoresheet one way or another.

Wayne Rooney was simply unstoppable tonight. “Wayne Rooney is simply unplayable. We tried to do everything to stop him,” Gordon Strachan told the UK Sun, “But when you are facing someone like that you just have to hold your hands up and say tonight we have come up against a world class player.”

Rooney’s first goal came, but was ruled offside. This was the third wrong judgment made by the linesmen. But even if Berba’s double were not counted for, United still would’ve won 2-0 (if Rooney’s first goal wasn’t disallowed). Rooney is in top form, which could lead United to narrow the gap between them and Chelsea with the Blues set to take on Liverpool & Hull City. The 22-year-old England striker has netted 8 goals in his last six matches, which has helped take the load off his Portuguese teammate. Cristiano Ronaldo’s  underperformance has been widely criticized both in the domestic league and in national duty since coming back from injury.
